During restoration of the lead sheet which had failed due to over sizing and the through fixing of the ornaments, the griffin, crockets, roses and fleur de lys were removed cleaned, missing items recast, and re-fixed in positions to allow the lead sheet to move to prevent premature failure. The three fleches on the roofs of the galleries have had the ornaments, numbering several thousand, permanently repaired and re-fixed.
